Where lift systems have come to the end of their operational life, their refurbishment rather than complete replacement can often be the best option for future life expectancy.

Reduced builders and associated works, shorter programme times, and the retention of useful existing equipment can all make refurbishment an ideal solution. But there are severe pitfalls; unknown conditions at tender stage, clients or tenants in-situ being inconvenienced, noise and disruption, lack of cost control etc.

With experience and an eye for detail, most of these shortcomings can be avoided, and by carefully specifying and project managing, the best can be achieved within cost and programme.
